Laptop Cooling Mat
Ok, first of all it is so annoying to have to use a cooling mat for a laptop. This means you cannot even set the thing on your lap to use it! If your laptop keeps getting too hot then you need to get a new laptop but if that is out of the question...buy this cooling mat/fan.
I got this about a year ago to keep my old Dell Inspiron 5100 from getting too hot and damaging itself. I went to Wal-mart and it was under $30 so I got it to save money over buying a new computer. It was a good choice and has served me well. Before I got the fan, the heat actually fried my hardrive, and now it doesn't even get hot!
This thing has no skid rubber pads to hold your laptop in place and weighs about a pound. It uses two fans to pull the heat away from the computer and out a rear vent in the mat. It plugs right into your usb slot and needs no outside power source with an on/off switch. The fans pull 28 CFM (cubic feet per minute) really cooling the computer down.
This thing is lightweight, super efficient, and effective, not to mention inexspensive. This is a good buy for anyone with laptop cooling problems. GREAT BUY!

I'm trying to figure out from your description how you would work this mat. Does it sit in your lap with the laptop on it so you can sit, say, on your couch or does it have to be on a flat surface? Sounds interesting and a possible solution for my daughter's laptop unless she would have to use it on a tabletop.
You can sit it on your lap or anywhere really. The problem is that it doesn't have anything on it to help the laptop from slipping off if it isn't on a flat surface. It can get a little tricky when it's on your lap but it does work to help the computer from overheating. If it would actually hold onto the laptop so you could move around more that would be great. But this one does not and it makes it pretty difficult to use while on ur lap. I hope that helps =o)
I had one of these. It is really good!!! But I'm really rough on my laptop and extras like this so mine broke but it did last a year almost which is longer than the one I had before it and longer than the wireless mouse I got at the same time.
