The Zalman ZMVF700CU VGA cooler is what I decided on when the fan on my ATI X300 went out. In the process of the OEM fan going bad there were a few months where I just put up with the annoying racket the thing made from vibrating in it’s bushing. Finally I heard it stop a few times and decided it was time for a new. I didn’t really know you could get new fans for VGA chips, much less that you could get one like the Zalman!
The Zalman ZMVF700CU has a pure copper base and fin construction for excellent heat dissipation. Included also in the package are 8 aluminum ram heat sinks with double sided heat tape. As far a performance and noise goes, I love the Zalman. I use it in quiet mode with no problems at all, I’m not really over clocking the card much though.
The one thing I can gripe about was installing the Zalman. There was an abundance of tiny screws and rubber o rings to install, and the instructions were lacking a few details. Also I had to push the fins on the “flower” looking area of the heat sink together while trying to screw it down because the fins were hitting a capacitor on the card. Other than those few little things this is an excellent VGA chipset cooler. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to over clock, or just quiet their system down.
