Tooth Tunes toothbrush -

Share and Enjoy:

Tooth Tunes toothbrushes are battery-powered electric toothbrushes which produce music that increases to increase in volume in response to increased pressure applied to the brush head.  These toothbrushes retail for $9.99 at many pharmacies and mass market stores such as CVS or Wal-Mart.  They come in a variety of song clips from KISS's "Rock and Roll All Nite" to Disney's High School Musical "We're All in This Together."

My two young sons (ages 9 and 6) use these toothbrushes daily.  The two that we purchased played the "Star Wars" theme song, are white with colored accents and small graphics related to the song that they play.  An easy to operate on switch is located on the front of the toothbrush near the base.  The main problem with these brushes is that the volume is barely audible to the naked ear when it is turned on and it increases only slightly with the increased pressure as recommended.  It does provide an interesting sensation as the bristles vibrates and the sound waves are transmitted throught the mouth with brushing.  The Hasbro websites describes this as "Sound waves stream through the bristles and travel through your jawbone to your inner ear."  The brush head vibrates as the music plays in 2 minute intervals, the bristles are soft and it cleans my children's teeth as well or better than any manual brush.  Batteries are replacable as needed and the toothbrush has a good battery life.  My children have brushed their teeth at least twice a day for two months now and I have not needed to replace the batteries.

If the perceived benefit is encouraging my children to brush their teeth, it has indeed worked!  They are both fond of music and prefer these toothbrushes over any other (including the "light up" ones).  They do complain of being bored of the "same old" songs that they play over and over and at $9.99 these brushes are too pricey for us to purchase a variety of them.  All in all, if your children enjoy music I'd say this toothbrush is a good value and worth a try!

  2. These toothbrushes do indeed encourage your child to brush their teeth. Yes, the music is not super loud but are you supposed to be listening to music or brushing your teeth? Nice job!
