Before I got the service I have now, I tried T-mobile. I didn't really like the two year contract, but it was the only place that offered me a plan for $30. I excitedly waited for my phone, but quickly became disappointed when I tried to use it.
I couldn't set up the voicemail no matter what I did. I called up the company and spent two hours on the phone with several representatives before finally I was told I didn't have enough service in my area to be able to use the phone at home. Well if I couldnt' use the phone at home I didn't want it. They cancelled out my service or so I thought.
The next month I got a bill for $50. I call up the company and spend another 30 minutes on the phone. They guy can cancel out one thing, but not the other. After all that time I finally was promised to get a revised bill for $0.
Folks from what I understand T-mobile doesn't have enough towers. If you are going to use this company, which I don't recommend, make sure you ask them if they have service in your area BEFORE you buy the plan.

Wow I have heard that rumour that T-Mobile doesn't work well in all places, but this story takes the cake. I have verizon and have been happy about it for the most part. Hope your next cell experience is a pleasant one.
I like getting multiple perspectives on different services. So far I have been happy with my Sprint plan.
Glad I did not go with this service when helping a friend look for a cell phone plan. Thanks for the warning.
wow--i didnt realize they stunk! will steer clear
Wow! Thanks for letting us know to stay away from them!
Sounds like T-Mobile is a company to stay away from. Thanks for letting us know about it.
Well, $30 sounds good but the service sounds horrible! This is definately a company I will avoid.
Yes, they stink, their attitudes and service coverage are dismal, and it is clear they cannot be serious about going up against Verizon, Nextel or Sprint. Heck my Surewest makes all of the above look like mental midgets:)
What a hassle you went through-I hope your next plan was better!
I had the same type of situation with them they were horrible my phone didn't work anywhere and I kept getting extra charges on the bill that they couldn't explain.
I think cellular providers are better in some regions and terrible in the next. I heard good & bad stuff about T-mobile. Overall they are all mediocre at best.
Yeah some cell phone companies don't care if they sign you up and you have no service. You would think they would care a little more about their customers. Thanks for the warning.
As a "locked in" T-mobile customer I sooooo agree with you. Every month I think about cancelling my account, but then again do I really want a cancellation fee on top of my overly expensive bill? Sigh.....
I used to have T-Mobile and I could never find an area with a signal. Will never go with this company again.
