Seed starting peat pellets for mini greenhouse

Share and Enjoy:

I use these peat pellets in my greenhouse to start my larger seeds like, cucumbers, watermelons & pumpkins.  They are made from peat moss and have a nylon netting around them to hold the peat in place.  When you get them in the bag they look like a large round coin, then you soak them in water and they expand.  You can buy a separate mini greenhouse for these peat pellets, that is basically a plastic base that holds the peat pellets and a plastic lid.  This helps keep them from drying out too fast and helps keep them warm for faster germination.

All I have to do is poke the seed in the middle of the pellet after it has been expanded and wait for it to grow.  I keep them moist and they quickly sprout and grow nice healthy roots. When they get large enough, I take the top off the mini greenhouse so they have room to grow.

What is nice about these peat pellets, is that you don't have to transplant the seeds in another container.  When they are ready to be planted, I just place them in the soil where they are to grow and that's it.

This is the easiest way possible to start plants for your garden.

  2. I love to use these when I start my seeds indoors. They are so easy to take and then plant the whole thing in the ground when it is time to move them outside.

  7. We use these pellets in a mini-greenhouse. It is nice that they are sold separately so you dn't have to buy the whole kit every time.
