Norton 360
Norton 360 is a complete security sweep. It has antispam, antivirus, antimalware, antispiware, rootkit protection, internet explorer protection, etc. The cost of the product is about $69 which is more than alot of other similar products out there. I do not recommend this product due to the problems I've had with it over the last year.
Let me tell you more, Norton 360 is all around protection for all internet threats, hense the name, 360. But it will slow down the fastest computer available. Not only does it add ONE process, it adds about 9 services. Everything will basically take about seventy percent longer than it normally would without this product installed on your computer.
Basically, you can get another product for LESS money that does NOT slow your computer and does just as good of a job as Norton 360.

OK, I admit I know nothing about this stuff but I do appreciate your warning about this product.
We were using Norton but I was having so many problems with the computer going so slow that we quit using it and now use Mcafee
I would recomment Avast! It's free too!
I have to agree. Norton truly interrupted my connection ....took forever to run programs and then it blocked things from connecting. I finally ended up deleting the whole program from my laptop and installing AVAST. Don't like the price either....way too much!
Norton just chews up memory, and can still be attacked through it's monster GUI interface. Just get a good free anti virus like Avast, and turn on MS Service Pack 2 firewall. A firewall is critical for always on connections, and acts as a compliment to an anti-virus program.
You are not the first I've heard this problem happening to & I hope you were able to uninstall it & get another anti virus program. That is really a shame that it happened to you...
I have another Norton Version, but believe me, when the subscription runs out I'm done. It makes everything so slow!

I hate when things that are suppose to be "helpful" slows down my system! Thanks for the warning..they sure make it sound good though dont they?
I agree that the Norton's can slow down any machine! We have a paid subscription to Norton's but do not use it... It isn't worth it and frankly I am surprised that it still sells!
Wow people either love or hate Norton. This version is actually suppose to be easier on resources. I had the older version and it was okay. Nothing special. Something must have bugged me though I changed over to macafee lol I think it was slow starting up.
