Phase 3 is meant to help you maintain your weight loss. You now have the freedom to add even more carbs (only healthy ones, of course) but still you are learning to eat nourishing foods in sensible portion sizes.

The South Beach Diet is different than the Atkins Diet.....I believe it's safer. I purchased the South Beach Diet book and the diet seems simple enough to follow. My problem is cutting carbs, because I love pasta, rice, etc. I do believe this diet is one of the best available. Thanks for the information.
South Beach has many many fans. along with their books and .com presence, their foods are available in most supermarkets nationwide. This makes it much easier for people to follow their weight loss program.
The no carb thing would kill me...I'm such a carb lover! This sounds great for people that can have more self control than I.

I've never tried the South Beach diet. The phases make sense and sound easy to follow as far as what you are need to do (doing it woud be more difficult ;) ) Making a shopping list and keeping a journal are very helpful to any weightloss plan.
