Sleeping Beauty Peanut Butter Glasses
Did you know some peanut butter companies packaged their products in decorative glasses in the 1950's - 1960's? Some of the most collectible glasses were distributed by Boscul Peanut Butter, Big Top Peanut Butter and the Armour Company. The promotional glasses had pry off lids. When the peanut butter was used up, the glass could be washed and used in the kitchen as a drinking glass.
Today, collecting antique peanut butter glasses is a great hobby! Glasses are available with colorful animals, birds, cartoon characters, dogs, flowers, fruits, holidays, transportation and more.
Some of the most collectible glasses are from the Walt Disney Sleeping Beauty series from Big Top Peanut Butter. I've collected several glasses in the series including the "Good Fairies Bestow Their Gifts" drinking glass, which features a picture of the three fairies {with wands} over the crib of Sleeping Beauty. Others are Prince Phillip, Samson {Prince Phillip's Horse} and Maleficent the Witch. They are all dated 1958, Walt Disney Productions. Each glass is approximately 5" tall and 2" in diameter at the base.
Disney glasses can be found at estate sales, antique shops, antique malls, trade shows, flea markets and on the internet. E-Bay is one of the easiest places to find collectible glasses. Most Sleeping Beauty glasses retail between $10.00 - $25.00. When shopping for collectible glasses, look for those in pristine condition with no cracks, chips or paint loss. There's always going to be glasses available in used or worn condition. Don't buy them!

I don't remember this series, but I sure remember collecting some of them. Can't remember which ones, and they are long gone now. Thanks for the tip to look for ones without worn paint.
Who knew all those things we had as kids would be called antiques now! These are so cute and the Disney feature would be something I would like to collect.

I remember Big Top Peanut Butter but don't ever remember the glasses. Gee hope we never had these and my mom threw them away! These glasses are beautiful. Thanks for a great idea in collecting.
