Graco Travel Lite Crib - Windsor

Share and Enjoy:

We registered for the Graco Travel Lite Crib, before the birth of our son and received it as a shower gift.  I wanted a bassinet to use in our room, until he was old enough to be transitioned into a crib.  I saw this one and loved it.  The windsor pattern is sage green with toile and checked patterns.  The green was perfect for us since waited to find out the sex of our baby.  We also had a stroller and carseat in the same windsor pattern.

The Travel Lite crib is similar to a pack 'n play.  It is portable and light.  The bassinet fits in the top of a crib/playpen.  It comes out easily and all of the parts fold up to fit in a carrying bag.  It also comes with a canopy and a mobile of 3 soft teddy bears.  It does not contain the diaper changing pad, like the larger Graco Pack 'N Play.

As a bassinet this was great.  My son slept soundly in it.  He had plenty of room and always seemed comfortable. I really liked the fact that one end of the Travel Lite Crib has wheels, so it was easy to move from room to room as needed.  We used it a lot the first 3 months and would have used it longer but the weight limit for the bassinet was 15lbs. and we had a big baby.

The size limit on the bottom crib/playpen part was 30 lbs. and 35 in.  I had hoped we get a lot more use out of the as both a travel crib and a play pen.  Unfortunately,  this was not the case.  I did use it again as a play pen when my son first learned to crawl.  I could put him in it with a few toys and books, while cleaned or got dinner ready.  He had room to sit and play for short periods of time.  However, once he was really moving he didn't want to be in it at all. It was too small to really use as a playpen as he got bigger.

By the time he was 11 or 12 months old, he was too long to sleep in it as crib.  He fit, but was really too crowded to be comfortable and had no room to move around.  I was disappointed, because it would have come in handy a few times when were traveling.  I'm not sure where they got 35' as their height limit. He was nowhere near that at 12 months and the crib was too small.

If your are only expecting to use this as a bassinet or you don't have room for the bigger pack'n play, this will work for you.  As I said, I loved it as a bassinet.  But if you want to use it as your baby gets older, I'd go with a bigger play yard, like the Pack 'N Play.

  1. This whole setup sounds really practical and you have described it very well. There is so much really handy gear available now! If one had a small baby this sounds like it would work for a much longer time. Might be just the ticket for bringing home a preemie!

  2. As a matter of fact Shark, we had one for Cam who was a premie, and used it for over a year:) But once he started holding his own, we went ahead and bought a play yard for him. Tweak alert: My husband reinforced the bottom so we could still use the smaller one for travel.

  5. LOVE the picture. The colors for this playpen are pretty too. We loved our playpen as a bassinet too:0) Too bad you did not get much use out of it later though.
