Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Bagless

I have used an Oreck vacuum for years, I even have two of them in my house. But I also have two longhaired cats and recently got a puppy. The pet hair is a problem and I always had to turn my Oreck on its side and cut out the tangled up pet hair from the beater bar underneath each time I vacuumed.

I bought the Pet Hair Eraser at Target after I saw a commercial for it. It was easy to assemble and has several attachments. I tried it out on the carpet in my living room. This carpet was installed in 1982. It is very expensive Scotch-Guarded commercial-grade carpet (my dad works in the renovation industry and it was leftover from a job he'd done). 

I had to empty the dirt container five times before I had finished the one room. I could actually see tufts of fur that were several feet away from the vacuum being drawn towards it and picked up. My two cats have long hair and when they play and fight the fur truly does fly off of them, and sometimes it lands in corners where I can't see it to pick it up. You can see the pet hair swirling around, and the vacuum also picked up the cat litter that had been tracked on th carpet.

The thing that impressed me the most was that this vacuum pulled 20-year-old Carpet Fresh out of the carpet and pad beneath it. We haven't used that stuff in at least 15 years, but there it was in the collection container. I have two Oreck vacuums and they apparently missed the Carpet Fresh, but this affordable Bissell pulled it right up.

 The hose and attachments are great for stairs, and all the parts are clear so you can see if there is a clog (I haven't had one yet). I've only had this vacuum for 3 months but I've only used my Oreck in the basement since it's already down there and I didn't want to have to carry the Bissell down the stairs. The only bad thing I've discovered about it is it's heavy (I've been spoiled by my light Orecks, and I'm only five feet tall so it's hard for me to lug these things up and down stairs), but the performance is wonderful. I have stairs going down to my basement and up to my attic and the attachments are great for that.

I never would have believed that a ~150 dollar vacuum could be this good. I'm almost tempted to vacuum every day just to see how much more hair and dirt and dust it pulls out of carpet that already appears to be clean.
