Years ago my mother took out life insurance polices on both my children. Upon her death a year ago, I became the owner of these polices. Then, 6 months ago , I got re-married and moved. How dare I do this, it caused so many problems!
I called United of Omaha customer services. My call was answered on the first try and I did not have to endure any of that your-call-is-important-to-us stuff, I was only placed on hold once for a relatively short time and the entire call only took about 15 minutes but...
The customer service rep I spoke with was not exactly rude but he wasn't very friendly either or all that eager to help it seemed. He sounded like I woke him up and he was so confused about the fact that I had gotten married, changed my name and moved. Aren't these things fairly common? In the end, he did get my address changed and said he would send out the appropriate forms for me to sign for both policies. I did recieve a form for one of the polices but it has been almost a month now and I have yet to recieve the other one. Guess that means I will have to call again. Geez, I hope I don't wake him up again.
Over all I would rate this experience as half positive and half negative. The negative being I now have to call again and go through the whole story again. I hate it when that happens.
you know what irritates me about this sort of scenario? It could be resolved with an elementary fix. When you get an annual statement, you should receive change of address cards, or, simply include it with any routine communications.
Yeah, it wasn't so much the address change as it was the change of my name. It was a huge big deal.
I don't have any children yet so I haven't really needed to think about life insurance policies for them. How dare you wake the man up though! Shame on you!! hehe :o) I know what you mean about him not being "rude" but definitely "put out" by your requests..I've dealt with quite a few of those people. Good luck when you call back, I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
Some insurance companies are so difficult to work with. I talk to several a month probably and I would say your experience is par for the course. Glad you got it worked out though.
Wow, hope this gets settled. I hate working with insurance companies, most of the time that I have to deal with them, they seem so impersonal.! Thanks
I could think of several college courses that should be offered. One of them is Customer Service!! Just be thankful you didn't have to deal with someone halfway around the world that you could not understand. Hopefully the next person will be the complete opposite, other wise ask for a supervisor and tell them what happened. Without good customer service, I do not give a company repeat business. Thanks for the heads up and good luck!!
Oh my goodness. I am beginning to believe that customer service is taught these days in the local bars. I deal with some who are nice and decent, but most are rude and crude. Thanks for sharing the information.
I agree wtih you-you would think that they would be used to someone remarrying or changing their address-I am such a stickler about customer service & have a one strike you're out policy!! Sad to say that United of Omaha would be out!! I'm sorry for the inconveniences you went through.
I am sorry to hear this. Even I had bad experience with Insurance company. Most just do not care.
Hope they will sent before you call them again, I too dreaded to call up this type of company.
