Clothes for under $9
While cruising the mall, I noticed some huge signs in the windows of Steve & Barry's proclaiming that everything in the store is a low price of $8.98! I needed a new sweatshirt, so I thought I'd check out their merchandise. Man was I blown away! What I thought was a store that only sold sports stuff now is like a very cheap Old Navy! They have mens, womens and children's clothing...and every piece is a low price of $8.98.
After briefly browsing the mens section, I determined that their sizes don't go very big, so my size XXL hubby was out of luck. The ladies section was quite extensive, including career wear, weekend wear, dressy casual clothing, shoes, accessories, swim wear...oh I was in heaven! The styles were very up-to-date and the "Bitten" clothing line is by Sarah Jessica Parker.
I found some clothing items to try on, one of which was a pair of cargo capri's. They had three colors to choose from - white, brown and an olive green, all of which were very pretty and earthy. The capri features ties at the legs that can be used to cinch the bottom of your pant if so desired, traditional cargo pockets secured with a button on each leg, a zip fly, two buttons at the top, and a tie at the waist as well. They are made of a heavy material, and this makes them perfect for casual wear and they will look great with a t-shirt, dressy shirt, or even a nice tank top. The great earthy/neutral colors ensure that the capri will look great with classic colors or even bold colors.
The one thing about everything I tried on is that the sizing is off, plan on at least one size larger than you'd usually pick up. Because of this, it can be very limiting if you're already a size 12-14 like I am...they don't get much bigger than that in this store. They also don't carry any long sizes, so I have to stick with capri's or shorts. Great news for the short people though, they do carry petite!
The capri's have fared through 3 weeks of baby messes (spit up, diaper blow-outs, etc.) resulting in frequent washing, and so far they're holding up great. For "disposable" clothing, this is the place to get trendy merchandise that will last for at least a fashion season and won't kill your budget.

We have a Steve & Barrys here and I love it. You are right about the sizing. i still love to look and see what they have and can usually find a good deal.
Is this the line that Sarah Jessica Parker came out with? I was disappointed to see they don't have a store near us and last time I checked there wasn't a way to buy online. Hopefully soon! These sound like a good bet!

I really like things in those earthy tones so that as soon as I get spills and stains on them they don't show as much!
I shopped at this store once a few years back and got my oldest son a really nice winter coat for like you said $8.98. This capri's sounds like something I would like, will have to go back and check them out. thanks for sharing.
I believe that Steve & Barry's is the store that someone was talking about for nice but cheap sneakers. If so, we do have one that is not too too far away, but I have never been. Too bad that they do not have extended sizes.

Sounds great but like your hubby i would be out of luck if the sizes dont go above an XL
