When our daughter developed the ability use doorknobs, we wanted to make sure she didn't enter certain rooms of the house unsupervised. We invested in several doorknob covers to keep her safe.
These covers come in two pieces. They snap over the doorknob and have to be squeezed fairly tightly in order for the cover to come in contact with the doorknob. Once you squeeze the cover, you can twist the doorknob and open the door.
These are very effective. They are difficult to manipulate, even for adults. In fact, we have to remove them when my elderly mother-in-law visits us as she cannot squeeze the pieces together hard enough to engage them.
One drawback is that they sometimes fall apart and end up on the floor. This has only happened a couple times after they were hit hard with something we were carrying. I have no fears that our children can make them come apart on their own.
This Sounds Like A Great Product For People Who Have Children! I Will Defintely Recommend Theses To Family And Friends. Thanks For Sharing!
I forgot how it was to have small children around! When my grandson was little I had covers on all of my outlets! Isn't it great that there are so many gadgets to keep the kids safe?
My little one has descovered that she can now open doors so this is a great product to know about!
Wow, I wish they had these when my daughter was little. We had to block the doors with chairs and things to keep her out but she still managed to get through. I wish they were easier to work but they sound like a great idea.
Never heard of these but what a great idea. Sure helps to keep things safe around the house and kids out of places they don't need to be. Thanks I am going to tell my niece about this, she having all kinds of problems with her son getting into places he shouldn't.!
I had these allover our house and my moms house for a LONG TIME.
These doorknob covers are great! I had used ones that were one piece that had to be pushed over a knob instead of the 2 piece variety. I find them especially important to have in homes with a basement or a furnace room.
What a great idea! I have never heard of this type of safety product. I think having the assurance that little ones can't get into a room without you being there is fantastic. I will have to check these out.
I have had customers over the years that I recommend these to if they are caring for an elderly demented patient.
These have been adult proof for me! Our school has them & sometimes I can't even get in the classroom! That's too bad that it fell apart on you....
I totally agree that sometimes these are even hard for adults to open. I can see how it would be hard for the elderly. When my son was a toddler we had some of these but they were one piece, not the two piece. It just slip over the door knob and you didn't have to worry about the pieces coming apart. Not sure if they still make the one piece as this was about 5 years ago
