When looking for a bike, I wanted something that could handle rugged terrain as well as smooth pavement. Specialized is a very popular brand for mountain bikes and has a solid reputation, so I decided to go with that brand.
The Hard Rock seems to be their entry level mountain bike, but still comes with some great features. The main feature that allured me was the front suspension. This feature on bikes seems to be a costly addition, so I was happy getting that feature.
The color is black and grey and is fairly light, contrary to how the bike looks. It has 21 speeds and very wide, mountain bike tires.
The bike is about as comfortable as mountain bike can be. Because of the design, you naturally have to lean over to ride it. The bike is solidly built and over the last few years I have done only some basic tune-ups on it.
I would recommend this bike to someone looking for a no frills, well built mountain bike that doesn't break the bank.

This sounds like quite the sturdy bike...21 speeds?! Hold tight!!!! This sounds great-enjoy riding around Minneapolis on this!!!
This sounds like a great bike. I use to love riding mountain bikes. Thanks for sharing the information on this great bike.
I used to have a moutain bike and really liked it - especially compared to the 10 speed I had as a kid. The wide tires make bikes so much easier to ride even if you are not biking on a mountain.
Specialized always made some nice bikes, glad you find one also.
