About 10 years ago we were fortunate enough to find a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette for sale by owner. The guy who was selling it had 4 kids, and a wife that wanted him to get a "family" car. We pounced on this deal quickly! When we saw it for the first time in person, we immediately fell in love with it!
Besides being a beautiful car on the outside, it also has a 327 cubic inch engine, with 300 HP. Another feature is a Muncie T10 4 speed. And last but not least... (but the best part!)... IT'S A CONVERTIBLE!!
As we cruise around in our "little red Corvette", it definitely makes heads turn! Many times we hear guys shouting-out their approval of the car, from where they stand on the sidewalk! Heck! The car makes us look good! (grin)
During the summer, we take advantage of various classic car show events. It gives us a chance to show the car off a little, and my husband gets an ego-boost from all the compliments he receives! Other Corvette owners show their cars at these events too, and everyone networks with each other. It's a great way to get details on troubleshooting, and where to buy parts and accessories.
One downside to the car is that it doesn't have a trunk. There is some limited storage behind the bucket seats, but you'll be lucky if you can stash a couple of jackets back there. And of course, as with most classic vehicles, there are periodic engine problems that come up.
Over the last 10 years we've never regretted our purchase of this 1st year Corvette Sting-Ray. Of all the old cars we own, this one is at the top!
Oops! I need to make an amendment to the type of transmission this car has. I misspoke when I said it had a T10. In reality it has a Muncie 4 speed, but it's not T10.
There are no votes to show.
Wow, I love this little red Corvette! I'm sure heads turn every time you drive it. Classic car shows are a great way to meet others with similar interests and to show off your car. This car is hot!
Awesome red corvette! I bet you are the talk of the town driving around in your little sports car. I would love to have a corvette. This one is very cool and love the color. If I was ever to own a corvette...it would be baby blue. A girl can dream!
Awesome lil red 'vette! I love it:) These cars are a blast to drive, and the fully restored ones are so pretty:) Bring it over to Cali, so we can go for a ride:)
I generally don't like the way corvette's look, but really do like this version. I bet it's fun to drive! Thanks for sharing your experiences with this car!
I love that car! What a great description of it, makes me just imagine how riding in it make you feel.
This style of corvette is very nice - it has a European flavor to me. She's a beauty!
