My husband has life insurance provided by his employer, but we consider it insufficient, so we did some research and chose to buy our own term life insurance through Select Quote Insurance Services. When we contacted Select Quote, they were very knowledgeable, professional, and quick to act. They had given us a quote of $80 per month for a $1,000,000 coverage; the price would be locked in for 30 years. This sounded very good to us
Select Quote sent a health examiner to our house who gave my husband a physical and took a blood test. The examiner gave us a tip: Do not pay anything until you have the policy signed, or they will change the price on you later. We followed the advice.
My husband's physical and blood test results showed good health. Select Quote was happy with that; however, they did not like the fact that my husband had mentioned his intention to fly an airplane in the questionnaire (yes, they ask you all kinds of things, even whether you plan to operate an aircraft). They said it was a risk, and it would increase our pay. My husband explained that he has a commercial pilot license, so he is not an amateur and flying is not something he'd do as a hobby. He knew for a fact that it should not affect his life insurance. The agent checked the policy and called us back saying that we were right, and there would be no price increase. We got the coverage we wanted, for $80 per month, as quoted. Except for this minor hiccup, which was quickly straightened up, we had no difficulties dealing with Select Quote.
Wow....guess they can ask you any questions and if one thing isn't the answer they were looking for....rate goes up? I think you were fortunate to find this company. The price and the coverage are awesome.
Yeah, anything that may put your life at risk will increase the rates. I figured telling them I want a pet lion would not be a good idea. :)
That is interesting about how it would be more for the insurance if your husband were to fly as a hobby, but not commercially. It sounds like you did your homework.
I've been researching life insurance lately. Thanks for sharing this info!
You're so right when you write not to pay anything until you have signed your policy.
Sounds like a good company to get your insurance through. Thanks.
