Oster Toaster Oven

Share and Enjoy:

Our old toaster oven was broken in our latest move, so we found ourselves looking for a new one.  We went to Target because we love that store, and took a look at what they had.  My favorite color is red, so my eye was immediately drawn to the Oster Inspire 6 slice toaster oven because it came in a lovely shade of red.

We took a look at the features and decided it would do what we needed it to do.  It wasn't as big as our old one, but none of the other ones that they had for sale were any bigger.

We brought it home and plugged it in.  It has three dials.  The top dial lets you choose what you want the oven to do: warm, broil, toast or bake.  The middle dial is for selecting the temperature and to toast, it needs to be all the way to one side in order to toast.  The bottom dial sets the length of time up to 60 min.  For toast, you select light to dark.  There is a pull out tray on the bottom to get rid of the crumbs, but if you have any larger than normal crumbs, they will get knocked off the tray when you slide it out.

I really like how fast it cooks things when I'm using it to bake or broil.  The downside is that it doesn't cook evenly, so part of your food will end up a little well done by the time all of it is cooked all the way through.  For toast, you just need to watch it.  It will go from no toast to burnt very quickly.  I watch it so I can stop it as soon as it starts to brown because I like mine very lightly toasted.  It also seems to take a very long time to toast.

Since my husband and I use it more for baking than anything else, it works well for us.  I'm also usually still getting food ready for my kids when I'm toasting, so it isn't a deal breaker to have to watch it.

  1. What a bummer that it isn't better at toasting since it's a TOASTER oven. Sounds like you have it figured out so it works for you though.

  2. Surely there are better toaster ovens being made these days. They been around long enough you think the companies making them would have worked out the bad points.
