I run a small salvage operation as a main source of income. Two years ago, I found a used Ford F-250 pick-up truck that was prevously owned by a city, as it was a city used vehicle only. The Pickup was in great shape, and I coild not refuse the $400.00 price.
After using this pickup for 150,000 miles, which came with 167,000 miles allready on it, I realized that the F-250 is the best truck around. The 1972 body style is now classic, and the 390 engine is a beast. Though I spend about what I would each month on a new vehicle, there is not a truck on the market that can out race me, out tow me, out climb me, or out haul me. Only the cost of fueling this monster has me down. I live 15 miles from town, and this is my only vehicle. I spend around $400 a month on gas, and this about kills me.
I know that there are some pretty vehicles out there that cost an arm an a leg, but honestly, how much are they saving compared to this great classic? I think this truck will last at least another 400,000 miles. I do not believe that the 390 ever dies. I have owned Ford Pick-ups in the past, but never the F-250. This is a great truck with solid running gear, and a well designed, reliable engine. Nope, this one has never been rebuilt. What do you think of that?
Right now it is standing up to the F.O.R.D. title, For Our Respected Drivers. I made the right choice. This is the truck to own. Imagine that I only paid $400 for a used truck. What vehicle on todays market will ever compare? Great pick-up truck, Ford, thanks for the good job on building mine!
Wow! Thanks for your great information.
yeahsi have one sitting in my yard thinking about selling parts power horse
I miss her very much. I am heart broken. She was my baby!
:O what i get for not reading comments, Sorry about the loss of your truck :(
FORD'S never die,they just get FADED,good one. i own 3
That truck had a good long life, sorry she died. We have 2001 F 250 and absolutly love it, aside from the gas mileage. These trucks certianly are work horses. It's good to know that they last such a long time. Thanks!
Ha! Finally went to Found On Road Dead, eh? Still, it lasted you a Long Time!
You win the award for someone getting their money's worth out of something! 150,000 miles for only $400?! And STILL going strong? Nicely written.
Can't beat the Ford trucks, they last forever.
not much on fords but beside gas sounds like a pretty good pickup
I agree that if heavy hauling is what you need, you can't beat a Ford pick-up. My father once pulled a stuck, fully loaded semi out of the mud with his Ford pick-up. The reason Fords are Found On Roadside Dead is because Ford owners never part with their pick-ups until they're dead as a doornail dead, lol.
