Chase Amazon Visa Card- I Love Free Books!

Share and Enjoy:
The Chase Amazon Visa Card gives me points which can be used on purchases at Amazon.

I don’t have a wallet full of credit cards... just two: Discover and Visa.  Previously the Visa card had no reward associated with it which bummed me out because there are a lot of places that won’t take Discover, which is why I had the Visa card in the first place.

Now, however, for every dollar I put on the Visa card I get a point, and each point is worth a penny.  When the total is above 2500 ($25) I can use it on Amazon purchases.  This is easy to do.  Whenever you reach the 2500 points your $25 just shows up in your Amazon account as a gift certificate.  You only get increments of $25.  In other words you can’t cash out the points between those milestones.

Otherwise the card is just pretty ordinary.  There is currently (May 2008)  a 14.24 APR on purchases and 21.24 APR on cash advances.  I pay off the balance each month, so I don’t pay much attention to these rates.

There was some initial perk that I got from Amazon just for using the card the first time.  I can’t quite remember what it was, but it gave me extra points, or extra cash or something.  I’m sorry that I can’t recall to report this accurately, but I remember that I was happy about it, so it must have been a reasonably good advantage.

I keep track of this card and make payments from the Chase web site.  This all seems to work perfectly.  I’ve never had a problem scheduling or making a payment.

  1. Sounds like a good rewards program for booklovers, but it would have been even better if a dollar was worth 5 pennies. ;)

  2. I had a Chase credit card long, long ago. I remember them distinctly as being the company that will "Chase you forever" if you should fall upon hard times or need to declare bankruptcy.

  3. I love free books too! But Chase will indeed "chase you forever," as Alexsandralyn has said in the previous comment...

  4. Well, I pay off my balance each month, so this shouldn't be a problem.

  5. Any card that gives back is a good card these days.

  6. Since I'm a huge Amazon fan and customer, this card makes sense to me. Though the APR is a bit high, if you do pay off monthly, that's not an issue.

  7. I have this card and now have nearly too many books. Considering how I read, this saying something.
