Illustrated Stories by Tim Burton

Share and Enjoy:

I'm a big fan of Tim Burton, and when I saw this book one day I HAD to buy it! Even though I normally wouldn't want to buy such a small book for $20! Right now you can get it  used at places like Amazon. At first this may look like a children's book, but it's filled with Burton's dark humor, twisted stories, and pretty graphic drawings. Obviously NOT for children because it's quite strange. All the drawings are done by him as well. Drawings looks to be done in pen & ink, watercolours, and color pencils. The characters he draws are eerie and odd. Huge heads, stick bodies, and kind of dead eyes. You can really get a sense of Burton's mind from this book. All of the stories of about children and their kind of "demented" lives. The stories are short and funny too (even though you probably shouldn't). So the artwork and poetry isn't the greatest, but you know any Burton fan would love this book nonetheless. There's 113 pages and you can read this in an hour or less.

I think everyone can enjoy this book. You don't have to be into dark things as the stories are pretty tasteful. Some would say it seem and looks alot like Edward Gorey's works.
