Handy Crank Ice Crusher- Does the Job
Share and Enjoy:
This one-quart human-powered ice crusher seems to do the job just fine if you only need a moderate amount of crushed ice.
When my old blender died I also lost my ability to produce real crushed ice since it had come with a special attachment for that task. I don’t like the slush you get by crushing ice in the blender with a lot of water which is how my new blender thinks one should make crushed ice.
When I saw this little gadget in a catalog it was cheap enough to try, and I’m glad I did. This is basically a one-quart plastic tub with a hand-cranked mill that fits on the top. Put in 3 to 5 ice cubes at a time, close the lid and turn the crank.
Well, I wouldn’t want to have to create pounds and pounds of crushed ice this way, but it works. You do have to apply some force, and the whole unit seems like it might not stand up to that force, but so far, so good. Sometimes I back off a quarter stroke and then apply force again, so as not to put so much strain on the handle.
Am I happy with this purchase? Yes, very much so! I only need crushed ice a few times a year for small parties. I can easily make enough with this little hand machine. It did not break the bank, and it doesn’t take up a lot of storage space. It produces a size of ice that I like a lot. The size flakes are not so fine that it melts too fast, and not so coarse that it doesn’t pack well in my vegetable cooler tray.
If you have a reasonable amount of strength in your hands, don’t need crushed ice every weekend, and enjoy saving money, I recommend this little gizmo. (Made in China, of course)

I think I would have loved this when I was pregnant with my daughter, I was the ice-eating queen!
hmmm, will have to look for this...a workout and crushed ice? Awesome!
What a great little thing to have around the house for those time needed for a small amount of crushed ice.
I didn't realize that a human-powered ice craser can be so handy. I don't like the watery mess a blender makes, either.
i love eating ice, even though I know it's bad for my teeth! I really like this product, though i dunno if I can find it around my area.
I think I will just stick with the crushed ice my refridgerator spits out.
Sounds like a great little gadget for a great price. I love that it doesnt take up much space. I have such a hard time finding somewhere to store all the things I need.
This sounds like a handy kitchen tool we need in our kitchen. This would be perfect for our purposes. Those times we need crushed ice are in small quantities. Thanks for sharing all the detailed information about this product.
That cinches it. I am buying one of these. I was just wondering if it really worked.
Great pictures. It really shows how well the product works.
My mother had one of these and it suited her needs perfectly. Living alone she didn't really have a need for loads of ice and hated the ones from her icemaker. This really is worth it.
