The Tenth Circle

Share and Enjoy:

Over the past few months, I have purchased several books by Jodi Picoult, so when I saw this one in the store, I decided to add it to my collection.  I think though after reading it, it may end up on my list of books to sell on Ebay or Amazon.  All I can say about it is that it is more wierd than anything else.  Yes, it kept my attention and was pretty good, but compared to some of her other novels, this one was just not nearly as good, in my opinion anyway.

This book follows the story of Trixie, a young teenager who is going through life, dealing with all the pressures that come with not only being a teenager, but also trying to conform to societies norms, all the while trying to keep her parents, who have struggles of their own at arms lengths.  It's a story about the bond between a parent and a child and what a parent will do when it comes to love for that child.

Along with the main storyline of the book, that of Trixie & her boyfriend, whom she ends up accusing of rape, is another storyline, told by her father and mother.  Her father talks about his life & memories of growing up in Alaska, whereas her mother, who is a college professor, talks about Dante and his theories on the levels of hell.  Both of these parts of the book give insight into the parents more and even help with the storyline some, but to me, just help make the book a little stranger.

  1. Didn't they just make a LIfetime movie out of this too?

    1. Maybe so...i haven't seen if if they have. Hopefully it better than the other Lifetime movie they made out of one of the books. I saw the Pact on tv and it was a waste of 2 hours. The book was waaaay better.
