I have to admit it. When I have written too much, when I am burned out, I go over to MSN.com, click on the games, and go at JoBoo's Gems. This game is a puzzle. You drop a gem and it kills three or more gems. If you get the whole place cleared, then you get some bonus points. The premise to the game is pretty simple.
I have a lot of fun with watching Joboo slam gems at the screen. He is dressed as a medicine man who is supposed to be protecting the family jewels. My supposed friend is the doctor. She gives me advice. I don't listen to her.
I have gotten to level 5-4, but I have not been able to pass it. After awhile, I am ready to go back to work. And yes, the time I spent playing is worth it because I am relaxed and ready to start
working again.
Also, I tell myself that playing games helps work my cognitive functions. It keeps me sharp and ready what I have to do next. Thank goodness for games. Cause I am addicted. Really.
Maturity rating: Anyone can play because it doesn't use bad language or mature action. Just a gem falling from the sky. :-)

I do the exact same thing Cyn. It does help with cognitive function and it distracts from pain. It is also a great way to free associate ideas when writing. Though I've not played Jo Boo, there are a few similar games that help the mind de-stress.
There are a couple more games I play, too. :-)
I, also, like to play the different games as a break from writing. They say games are excellent for cognitive function. I just love to relax with them and if they are improving my thinking what a great added bonus.
They have really helped my cognitive function. When I was on cytoxan, I lost a lot of brain power. I am getting it back little by little.
It sounds like a lot of fun. I mostly do Mah-Jong solitaire on MSN, it's not always as easy as it looks, and I'm not much of a gamer. But I need to get away from writing work and keep my cognitive function working too -- I do a lot of Sudoku, and hope that will help me from deteriorating more than I already have! Games help take your mind off pain, too, and anything that will do that is a big help. Glad you found this!
Laurel1 I also play Mah-Jong. It is one of my favs. I am not that good at Sudoku. I can play it, but it takes me an avg. of 20 minutes. Are you on some type of chem like cychlophosphamide? I found that the combination of this drug and prednisone caused problems with my cognitive function. When I was put on a milder chem (imuran), I started to do better. But, I have had to work at writing, reading, and other cognitive function. The more I do something new like work on language, then my brain works better. I read somewhere (can't remember) but it was a research paper that certain chemo drugs break the connections between neurons. During and after chemo, patients need to work on their cognitive function because the neurons do not reconnect after they finish taking the chemo. ERGO... pred-head, and chemo-head. :-)
This is one of my favorite computer games!!!!!!
Well, I just went there to try it. First, it will only play on IE6. OK, so I opened IE. Then I had to find it under Puzzles. Then it wanted to download something to my computer. Then it said that I needed a new ActiveX control. Sigh... maybe I'll have the patience to try it another day. Minesweeper is on my computer already... much easier to find.
Sharkbytes... Sorry it was a pain to load :-) I forget about that part of the game because I have been playing it for a long time. Forgive me.
I have never heard of this one! Ill check it out. My guilty online pleasure game is bookworm. lol.
oh yea... I like bookworm too. I gotta use that one "guilty online pleasure" ... a great line.
