Nintendo DS Lite

Well here it is in all its glory. The Nintendo DS Lite. Maybe I am a little late on this review. But nonetheless, I must review it. This system is the latest installment in the world of handelds for Nintendo. The system is more based around children but I always take the oppurtunity to pull it out and go for a round of Super Mario. For a handheld, the DS does exceptionally well. If you've ever played the Nintendo 64, this is like having one in your pocket. The DS includes two screens. The bottom is where most of the action will take place. The bottom screen, or the touch screen, is a touch sensitive pad which allows you execute commands or other things while in game. You use a stylus to rub, poke, etc. the screen. Which is the system's main feature. The top screen is the main screen where you will usually see the game itself. However sometimes the screen is used to show a map or etc. Basically the top screen is most commonly where you watch everything. While the system has no media capabilities, unless you buy a third party accessory, the games make up for it. If you know Nintendo like I do, you'll know games are no problem. From Mario to Guitar Hero, the DS has a great lineup of games. Depending on the game, the DS has three ways to play multiplayer. Through Wi-Fi using two DS's close to each other (Or Ad-Hoc) and the internet through a wireless connection. The other is using one card and having the second DS download the game from the first. It is very ingenious but check the box to see if the game you want supports it. The graphics and sound quality are like I said, Nintendo 64. Which is a very good thing. Although, some games are even better. Guitar Hero On Tour is a fine example. All in all, this Handheld console gave me an experience like no other and if you need something to keep your kids quiet, or to keep you busy, pick this up for around 130$ at your local game retailer.
