Huggies Little Swimmers Blue Melon Splash

My wife decided to give this brand a try to use with our son as we went to the pool.  I think she chose it because we have little swimmers for him to wear and Huggies is usually a pretty good name.  This one 7.5 ounce spray bottle is the first and last bottle we will be using.

            The bottle states that it is SPF 50, which seemed pretty common.  The price was also pretty good 6.99, which compared to most of the other named brands was cheap.  But those were really the only two things we liked about this product.  It seemed to do the job well enough, but that and the price still weren’t enough to make us want to use it again.

            While it is a spray bottle with an easy to use trigger, it does not come out as a spray.  It squirts on, plenty comes out, and you end up rubbing it in and to get everything covered anyway.  So having a spray bottle was really no great benefit over any of the other bottles.  Next was the smell.  Perhaps it was just this type, Blue Mellon Splash, but it didn’t smell good at all.  It smells like medicine and the smell stays.  I was able to wash my hands but my son didn’t like it and obviously couldn’t wash it off.  Perhaps the fact that it is water resistant is good, but not when it stinks and you want to get it off.

            It is important to use sun screen especially on your kids.  We were looking for a brand that would work and was affordable.  However, for the little bit that we saved on the brand the savings were outweighed by the smell we had to endure.  We ended up buying something else anyway so we saved nothing.  I wouldn’t recommend this product unless you really need to save a buck.  Maybe it was just this particular scent, but that alone is reason enough to spend an extra few dollars and get something else.
