MS Dixie II on Lake Tahoe
When my husband's daughter and family decided to visit us in Nevada, they decided to make it a great family vacation and stayed at Lake Tahoe. Our son-in-law wanted to go on a Lake Tahoe cruise. Price was a factor because they have two children under ten years old.
So we decided on the MS Dixie II, which is a paddle wheel boat that can hold 570 passengers. This particular boat had five cruises a day. I didn't get a picture of the boat. I was sitting in the back watching the paddlewheels. It was a dream come true. Since I read Mark Twain's books when I was a child, I have always wanted to be on a "steam" paddlewheel boat.

There is food and drink on the MS Dixie II (pay as you go). The prices for the cruise is $40 for adults, $38 for seniors, and $20 for children. But the cruise goes around Lake Tahoe with a special sight-seeing tour of Emerald Bay. We chugged past the Vikingsholm, the only viking castle in North America.
I think the time and money were well spent. As I said before I sat watching the paddle wheel (sometimes called the sternwheeler). The others wandered around the three decks looking for good pictures. This cruise will be on our list of things to do when family visit.

Sounds nice & relaxing, I know my kids would love to see a real castle!
To get to the castle, you have to climb down a really steep path. With my disease, my husband would not let me do it. So I was able to see the castle from the boat. GREAT, huh? ;-)
