I live alone in a mobile home, so bigger isn't better in my case. I have a limited amount of countertop space in my kitchen that's already shared with my coffee maker and bread box, and I needed a small cutting board for chopping onions and slicing tomatoes. I've owned but don't care for wooden or plastic cutting boards because they're easily scarred by knives, and I can never get them as clean as I would like to.
At Wal-mart, I found a glass cutting board that was just perfect for what I needed, and very decorative to have in my kitchen, too. "Fleurs de Paris" is a still-life painting by Kathryn White, and my glass cutting board captures about half of that painting in the painted glass. The board measures just under 8 inches in diameter, and needs to be washed by hand. But I don't own a dishwasher, so that's not a problem for me. When I'm not using it as a cutting board, I stand it on end so that I can appreciate the artwork. It's so much nicer than looking at plastic.
