My husband and I took a cruise to Alaska in September of 2006. This was my first cruise and my husband's third. This was his first experience with Norwegian Cruise Lines though. We both loved the cruise, but there were a few things I wish would have been different.
The Norwegian Sun is a beautiful boat and easy to learn your way around. I'm not sure if it was just because it was cold outside most of the time or because the ship was so big, but there was never a bog crowd anywhere we were. There were so many activities to keep everyone busy that there was no reason to worry about reserving a seat early with the ones you were interested in.
We stayed in an inside stateroom. This was fine with us because we did not spend much time in our room. We had plenty of room and slept great. We did get to see the inside of a balcony room and decided that it would have been worth the extra money to get on of these rooms.
We stopped at Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, and Prince Rupert on this cruise. I didn't like the fact that we docked at 7am and Ally left by 1 or 2pm. It felt very rushed when you were trying to do an excursion and see the city. Prince Rupert, British Columbia was only a 4 hour stop because we had to stop at an international port. This was facially a waste of time.
I would recommend this cruise to anyone, new or experienced to cruising. Freestyling cruising is great and there are plenty of options to keep you fed and entertained.

We've thought about taking a cruise. MIght just have to now.
Sounds like a wonderful trip. My husband and I took an Alaska Cruise on Princess for our honeymoon! We loved it! Thanks for evoking such fond memories for me!
I want to do a "beach" cruise, but I also want to do an Alaskan cruise as well. Sounds like you had a good time except for not having enough time at the ports. I would think you would at least have the whole day, kind of like a 9-5 kind of deal. Was this related to this particular cruise line or are all cruises like that? Forgive me I'm very cruise illiterate. :o)
Sounds wonderful. I think when I decide to go to Alaska this the way I will go. That is another place on my wish list to see. That list just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Thanks for sharing the information.
I would love to see Alaska. Hubby and I just have no desire to do the cruise thing! Seems like too many people your stuck with in one place!
I agree that the time docked sounds really short. I would be afraid to get off of the ship with only a 4 hour window in a strange place. I tend to get lost and would not want to be left behind!
Have you been on Carnival cruises? How would you compare it.
Have always wanted to go on this cruise-maybe i will.
