Handcrafted Wooden Wine Bottle Stopper

 I read a review here at Shared Reviews recently about shampoo in a bar instead of a bottle at Chagrin Valley Soap & Craft Co. I always like to support cottage industry if I have a need for their product, so I checked out their website. The soaps and shampoos looked lovely, but what appealed to me more at the moment were the soap-making lady’s husband’s crafts. He makes handcrafted wood turnings, and more specifically, wooden wine bottle stoppers.

It was fun to explore all the different styles he offered along with the different kinds of somewhat exotic woods he used to make them. My son-in-law enjoys working with wood, and I thought the wooden stoppers might inspire him to create something similar on his own. So I bought him one for his birthday.

The wine stopper I bought is made of Tiger Maple, which is also known as curly maple. When it arrived in the mail, included in the pouch with the stopper was a card describing the wood and signed by the crafter of the product.

I’m planning to give this to my son-in-law along with a nice bottle of tawny port for his up-coming birthday.
