My Gift To ME
Share and Enjoy:
The year I turned 30 was the worst year of my life. My marriage to my high school sweetheart was falling apart and we ended up separated and working on a divorce. I moved out and was on my own for the first time in my life. Two of my pets passed away including my beloved cat who was my constant companion from the time I was 12. If all that was not bad enough, my grandmother then passed away and 6 months later my mother passed away too. I was alone, at rock bottom and scared to death.
I decided to turn my life around and poured lots of time and energy into my job working as many hours of overtime as I could and also took on a few smaller part time jobs as well. By the end of the next year, I had saved enough money to put a down payment on a condo. I found one I liked and could afford and my daughter and I settled in to start our new lives. In the months that followed I met a man and fell in love. We went wonderful places and did some amazing things. One of those things was going to a black tie private cocktail party hosted by Sir Elton John who is a part time resident here in the Atlanta area. It was a benefit for his AIDS foundation and the premier of his Disney play Aida. I bought a fabulous dress but I needed the perfect jewelry to go with it. I looked everywhere. I found one I really liked at the Shane company but it was something I could not wear very often in my life and was having a hard time justifying the price. After thinking about where I had come from in the few years since my life bottomed out and how hard I worked to get there, I decided I needed to reward myself for all that hard work and went and bought it for myself.
The necklace is stunning although try as I might, I could not get a good picture of it. It sits just below the nape of the neck. It is 14K white gold with 9 round diamonds that together weigh 1K. They are set in graduated sizes with white gold running on an angel between them so they are not touching. The chain is a nice and heave rope style which makes me feel safe when I am wearing it knowing it will not easily break. It has a heavy duty clasp with a locking hook that snaps in place. While it is delicate and beautiful it is also made extremely well and is a very heavy piece of jewelry.
All jewelry that comes from the Shane Company comes with a certified appraisal. They will clean it, examine it and provide any other reasonable maintenance to it every 6 months for free. I usually take all my jewelry in whenever I am near a store and they clean it for me no questions asked. At the Shane Company the do not work on commission like at other stores. Shopping there is calm and quiet and they are never pushy. They have a machine in the lobby for free coffee, tea and cocoa and sometimes even fresh cookies. When I go in with my son, he can sit in the waiting area by the waterfall. They even have game boys they will give the kids to play when they are there to keep them busy so you can shop. I love my necklace and I love shopping at the Shane Company.

that's quite a story, Dsnygrl! Sometimes we really just have to treat ourselves special!
What a great story, of how you didn't give up, and got a lot of things that you worked so hard for. I'm so sorry that it was a bad year. (I sure can relate. Some years are like that.) But you must have looked gorgeous in your beautiful dress and necklace. Most of us just don't get a chance to dress up like that often, and you deserved to treat yourself! Plus you have a beautiful, lasting, quality piece of jewelry. Good job!
Wow-just now saw the price! REALLY good job! LOL!
