This is the ultimate book about women's friendship. I once heard an interview with the author of the Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood and she was asked the inspiration for the book. The book is about four friends living in New Orleans and their close-knit lives. She said that she always wanted friends like that. When you read this book, you will want friends like that too. These girl friends are slightly crazy, slightly kooky but totally loyal. You could not only tell them where the body was buried, but they would be standing next to you, handing you the shovel. These four friends have their flaws, they are not perfect and that is one of the very best things about this book. It really does tug at your emotions, it is not always a happy book. It does pull you into the story in a very strong way you really want to root for the characters. A very engaging book.
