Attractive Outdoor Furniture

I first saw this style of outdoor furniture more than ten years ago at the Rosarito Beach Hotel (in Baja California about 20 miles south of the US border).  I knew it was exactly what I wanted.  After some investigation, I found out that it was made by Fivi Furniture in Tijuana.   I visited the showroom at the factory and arranged to borrow a friends pick-up with camper shell in San Diego.  I am really glad that I bought this outdoor furniture when I did, because I can no longer find any information about Fivi Furniture, or find the same product.  The table plus four chairs cost $500.

Each piece was made by somebody stringing a twine-like material over a template.  Subsequently, the twine was sprayed with multiple coats of fiberglass.   Because of its handmade nature, every piece is unique and has its own personality.

The chairs have cushions made of a very thick high quality vinyl material.  I don't leave them out in the sun or rain, but they have given ten years of service and appear ready to give many more.  The chairs are very comfortable and seem to accommodate a wide range of body shapes and sizes.   

The 42" table has a circle of tempered glass on top. 

The twine and fiberglass has held up very well. When the furniture does begin to show serious signs of wear and tear, I plan to compare the cost of having it professionally refinished at a boat yard versus doing it myself in the garage.

I have received many compliments on my Fivi outdoor furniture, and am very happy with it.
