Ginnie and the Cooking Contest

Ginnie and the Cooking Contest by Catherine Woolley was a book I read when I was about the age of the young girl in the book - eleven.   I've always been an avid reader, even as a child, and I saw this book at the library and checked it out to read it.

Ginnie is an eleven year old girl who loves to cook and to travel.  When she finds out that there is going to be a cooking contest in her area, and the first prize is a trip to Washington, D.C., she decides that she has to enter and win.  But there are obstacles that Ginnie must overcome, including what recipe she is going to enter in the contest. 

This is a nice story for young girls to read.  I know that I enjoyed the book enough to buy a copy of it online as an adult because it brought back some good childhood memories.  The book is written by Catherine Woolley and illustrated by Paul Frame.  It is an entertaining story, and girls from eight to twelve would probably enjoy it.  I know I enjoyed it as a child, and I even reread it as an adult when I found a copy of it.  The book was written in 1966 but still would be entertaining to read today.

This book also helps young girls to learn that if you want something, you must follow through in trying to make it happen.  It is a nice story.
