Great Idea, Bad Picture

We are getting ready to move to a new house and we were looking for an inexpensive TV to put in my son's new playroom. My husband saw The Sharper Image Wonderwall Entertainment Projector at Belk on sale for $64.99 and thought it would be a cool inexpensive alternative.

With the Wonderwall you are able to hook up video games, cable boxes, DVD players and other kinds on components to it and then watch them projected on any white wall or even the ceiling although I can't think of why you would want to watch it on the ceiling. It has a built in speaker, a pivoting bracket and a manual focus lens. Images can be made any size up to 90".

Well the unit is small and was easy to set up and understand. Unfortunately the picture quality is horrible and the fan in the unit is very loud and distracting. We tried it both a Playstation 2 game and playing a DVD on it. No matter how big or small we made it or how dark the room was, the picture was still very grainy. We played with it for about an hour and noticed that the unit also tended to get a little too hot for us to be comfortable using it for long periods of time in a 7 year olds room. I have included a picture of what the image looked like on the wall and it was just as grainy as it looks.

Bottom line is, it sounded like a good idea and a great alternative to a regular TV but the picture and noise from the fan were so bad that we decided to go ahead and just return it.
