Better Credit Union for Your Money!!

I know I have give low scores for fees, Intrest Rates, and Range of Service, but before I explain why let me tell you a little about Onpoint CU. They were previously know as PORTLAND TEACHER CREDIT UNION and their services were VERY limited. The bank only serviced educators, nobody really knew the  bank was around except those who were teachers in the Portland Oregon area. Roughly two years ago Portland Teachers Credit Union changed their name to Onpoint Community Credit Union and started opening their banking up to anyone who lives or works in three diffrent counties around the Portland area. Since their reconstruction of the bank they have managed to turn the bank around in their favor, becoming one of the largest Credit Unions in Portland Oregon.

Now I will tell you why their scores were low in some catagories. They had such limited options for their customer when they were Portland Teacher Credit Union. Since becomming Onpoint CU they have spent the last two years trying to figure out how to better serve their customer. Their range of service are getting better. Last year Onpoint CU started opening accounts for business Owners. Onpoints intrest rates are comperable to other Credit Unions, but with the economy being in a recession  the intrest rates are not good which is not really their fault. Onpoint has a $5.00 member fee that keep your account open. The fees onpoint NSF fees $30.00 per item. Onpoint has a charge for a $3.95 bill payment and a statment processing fee per month.  I have never been charged fees  for these things at other banks. Onpoints Customer Service is great if you walk into a Branch. My only complaint is that I when I have to call Teller Phone to talk to a teller I usually wait abou 15 min. They need to hire more tellers for this position.

I would recommend this bank. If I have a problem their always willing to take care of it.
