Take a Pass on This One

Share and Enjoy:

My husband wanted a large white board for his office to make lists and jot notes on, but winced when he saw the $40+ price tags at office supply stores.  We found this one while we were grocery shopping and decided to try it.  After all, he just wanted a plain old white board.  They're all the same, right?   ....right?

This board by Quartet was a fair size, 36" X 22", was magnetic, and came with a marker tray and a package of dry erase markers.  The only thing worth having out of the whole set is the markers.

We could not tell in the store while the board was shrink-wrapped, but upon opening it up, we discovered that it warps badly.  The white board part isn't securily fastened to the backing, which allows the whole white part to shift and become wavy as you write.  The board also does not come clean.  All boards will eventually need a good cleaning with a white board cleaning solution, but this one appeared to need it after one use!  I can still see the shadow of what was written on it before.  And the storage tray?  It fell off after two days under the weight of one marker.

Again, the only really good part about this set is the markers.  They write very well, and the colours are vibrant.  I also like that they are fine-tip, instead of the traditional, chunky type.  It is so much easier to write with them this way.  A good set of markers like this usually costs about ten bucks anyway, so I guess we're not out any money in the long run.

A disappointment, nonetheless.

If you are in the market for a good office white board, go to an office supply store.  In the case of white boards, we have learned that price is an indicator of quality.

  1. They are very attractive. The sad part though was improperly secured. It sounds great for office use.
