Garmin Nuvi 760 Extensive Review

When I received my Nuvi this holiday season, I was delighted to see the unit was preloaded with Garmin’s latest and greatest maps. The 2009 edition hasn’t steered me wrong yet! Turn by turn instructions are given while routes are calculated, and recalculated on the fly.
The 16:9 wide touchscreen is bright and easy to read from all angles. I have rather large hands and still find it easy to enter in directions, even while driving, although this is not recommended.
One problem I have with this unit is the suction cup mount. If you plan on sticking it on the windshield, I suggest wearing a helmet because it is prone to falling off, and has done so several times. What I use is a weighted pad that the Nuvi suctions to and sits on top of the dashboard. It is much sturdier.
The battery is long lasting and the speaker is easy to hear even with music on. Although the system has Bluetooth connectivity for mobile phones, the provided microphone makes it hard for others to hear what you are saying. Also, the FM transmitter has a very short range. If your cars’ radio antenna is on the front near the hood, it should work fine. But if your car is like mine and the antenna is near the trunk, don’t even bother because all you will get is static.
Overall this particular Nuvi is a great unit for the price. I use it to find my way home all the time and the music player is quite handy. I would recommend this device to both new and experienced drivers.
