6 Inch Fluorescent Utility Light

With Spring storms at hand causing electricity outages and in a continuing effort to get light into areas where generally there is no light in my home I decided to try a name brand utility light. The light I tried is the six inch Fluorescent Utility Light by General Electric. This utility light runs on 4 AA batteries (not included). It can be hung anywhere with the screws and plastic anchors that are included or it can be attached with velcro (also included) for quick and easy removal when its time to replace the batteries. It has a switch to turn it on and off and the 5 inch long florescent light tube can be replaced.

This light is very convenient.  It can be mounted just about anywhere and provides quite a bit of light. The only thing I find odd about it is the fact that the 5 inch long florescent light tube that you buy when the other burns out costs about the same as the utility light. Generally replacement bulbs cost less than the product itself that way people don't throw away the whole product and buy a new one when the bulb burns out. Environmentally speaking, this is not a good pricing strategy.

I notice this is the featured video review at the moment and I just got finished using this light. I must say this is my favorite utility light of the 3 I have reviewed. It is still working on the same batteries. I have had it for about five months. Puts out nice light in a darkened area!
