GE Corded Phone with Cordless Handset

Share and Enjoy:

I've been hesitant to join the world of having a cell phone as my only phone. I enjoy being able to let the phone ring and not worry that the person who's calling knows that I'm there, wherever I happen to be. I have a cell phone, but it's almost never on when I am home. For now, I prefer keeping my landline for local calls.

In the past, I've owned several corded phones that were just plain lousy. Most of them are in a box in my garage collecting dust. Each one had its own individual quirks, like too much static, not enough volume or buttons that didn't always work. Time after time, I'd buy a new phone and each one let me down. I assumed I was doomed to deal with lousy reception and frustration forever.

While looking at telephones yet again, I came across the GE 2.4GHz telephone. It looked interesting and it had a cordless phone included with it, which would be very handy to have. I often want to wander through the house as I talk or step outside and even an extra long cord prohibited me from that, especially with a dog who sees the cord as a yet another toy.

I chose a corded phone as our main phone because the reception seems to be a little better. Occasionally I'll be on the cordless phone and switch to the other phone if the reception is a bit off. That doesn't happen often, but it has happened.

The cordless phone sits on a charger when not in use. It is quick to charge and holds a charge for a reasonable amount of time.

The corded phone comes with an answering system, speakerphone, caller ID and call waiting. It also has a pager to help locate the cordless handset if you've laid it down and forgotten where. I've never had to use that yet, but you never know when it might come in handy.

The phone has memory for 10 numbers and caller ID holds 40 numbers. There are also conference call and intercom options, if needed. The sound quality is perfect, both in volume and clarity.

I keep the corded call in my kitchen and the cordless phone beside my bed. I've considered adding more phones around the house, but decided that I need SOME exercise, even if it is just walking to answer the phone.

I've been very happy with this phone set and when the time comes to replace it, I will buy another GE.

  1. We agree that sometimes you just can't get good connections except with a corded phone.
