Sears Kenmore Elite Water Softener

We have well water and were debating whether to purchase a water softener for our home. I was always concerned about the water because we had problems in the past. We had to move the well head above ground due to contamination. The Health Department always inspects the well prior to building a house. The water sample was taken and the well did not pass. So we had to have repairs done to it with new pipe and moving the head above the ground. It passed after that repair. I still worry about drinking water. Water Softeners help in so many ways. The laundry comes out cleaner-your hair is softer-the fixtures in your sinks and bathtubs are free of corrosive metals etc... I have to say I am glad we put the softener in our house. I do like it...it just seems like it helps your water so much. We looked at two different water softeners at Sears. We chose the more expensive one. I liked the digital readout. You can have Sears install the softener for a fee but my husband chose to install it himself. Good job! The outside plastic housing is blue. It was pretty simple to program. I got to do that because I like to do the digital computer stuff. You just follow the instructions in the book. If you have any problems,you can call the Kenmore Water Line @ 1-800-426-9345. Everything is in the book. You set the time of day and the softener will regenerate at 2am. There is an indicator that shows the salt level. You have to get your water tested in order to program the softener. You should have your hardness number-pH-Iron numbers to put into the digital readout. This determines the settings. I always like the Elite brand of Kenmore. It seems to be built better than other Kenmores. There is a warranty on the softener for one year-3 on electronic parts and 10 against leaks. You can also buy extended warranty. We chose not to do this. Once the softener is set, just pour salt in the tank. Good to go! We have been very pleased with this softener and feel confident that it helps our water which is very important. One of the main parts I like is the digital readout with menu for programming all your needs. I highly recommend digital faceplate! This softener is the IntelliSoft 420 Series 625.384260 model. A+
