Mind, body and foodie holiday at Le Sport

After a recommendation, we booked this resort for our wedding & honeymoon in September 2004 at Le Sport. Nicknamed - The Body Holiday and with their own strapline - "Give us your Body for a week, we'll give you back your minds", I can now vouch that it is not just a gimmick.

This 4 star, all-inclusive, no children resort, the rooms are a little more basic than we would have hoped, but the resort & its surroundings, food and activities on offer more than made up for it. On arrival, champagne awaits all guests before you are given an introduction to the facilities and your spa itinerary - two a day! These are usually either in the morning or afternoon, so you cna enjoy the rest of the day doing other activities in the resort or exploring the island itself.

I usually steer away from all-inclusive hotel resorts but this one is the exception. They have a choice of 4 restaurants -Clubhouse, Cariblue, Deli and award winning Tao with good wines and cocktails on offer. As this is catered for more of mind & body experience,guests drink in moderation and enjoy the fine dining experience rather than the eat-as-much-as-you can mentality. In our experience the breakfast was so good we'd get out of bed for it (even on a honeymoon), the fresh seafood at lunch was refreshing and snacks at 4pm in the Deli was much appreciated. My favourite though was Tao which is their flagship restaurant and has been named one of the world's "60 Hot Tables" by Condé Nast Traveller Magazine. Tao is a Asian fusion restaurant which residents can go to every night if the wish as long as book before. We would call on the morning and make our reservation for the evening.

I haven't even mentioned the fantastic spa treatments and the many sporting activities including free scuba diving and golf the resort offers which are inclusive of your package. I actually learnt to scube dive here and the instruction was top quality. Many of its clientale return year after year and I know why. It is not a cheap holiday but worth every penny. The service is superb. They make everyone feel welcome and special, whether its your first or fifth time. We planned to go back fro our 5th anniversary if our daughter hadn't come along. Oh, well, now I look forward to a 10th anniversary get-away leaving kids with family!
