Gourmet Girl cupcake maker - avoid

Share and Enjoy:

Looking through the Argos book my daughter came across The Gourmet Girl cupcake maker, she asked for the cupcake maker for Christmas, looking at the picture I was pleasently surprised as it actually looked pretty good, anyway I tried to get her the cupcake maker only to find that it seemed to be out off stock, shortly after Christmas I managed to get my hands on it and needless to say my daughter was thrilled.

Being a big kid myself I couldn't wait to start making buns with her, so we took everything out of the cardboard packaging, with great difficulty, the contents of the box are as follows:

4 cake mixes, 4 icing mixes, 4 cupcake cases, 1 spoon, 1 spatula, 1 water dropper, 1 mixing bowl, 1 microwave dish, 1 cupcake cup, 1 icer, 1 icer chamber,  1 sprinkles container, 1 packet of sprinkles, 1 instruction leaflet.

The instructions are easy to follow providing a simple step by step guide on how to make these cupcakes. So with everything ready we are ready to start.

We realised that we could only make one bun at a time, which was going to be quite time consuming as I had three to make (one for each child) so we got started and everything was going well, we mixed the cake mix and into the microwave it went for 30 seconds, next job was the icing, now this was ridiculous, trying to get the icing onto the bun was hectic, it was every where, apart from on the bun were it should have been, then the sprinkles went on and my daughter had made her first cupcake!

On tasting the bun she was not impressed, it was quite funny to see her face as it screwed up into a million wrinkles. The bun was too sweet for her, so I tasted it and I totally agreed with her, I have a sweet tooth and take three sugars in my tea but it was even for too sweet for me, my sons tasted the buns and decided they didn't want any. Since that day the cupcake maker has remained in the box unused and there has been no interest in making anymore buns.

Other information

The cupcake maker cost around £34 and is suitable for children aged 8 years and above, although adult supervision is required at all times. There is a refil pack available from Argos costing around £9.50 but when buying the cupcake make you can purchase the refil pack for half price. In my opinion this product was a total waste off money and it is a big disappointment, not recommended!!!
