Coleman Lantern

We have quite a bit of storms here in our area. The power goes on and off at times. So we need to have alternative lighting available as needed. It could be candles,flashlights or lanterns. We owned a couple of really nice lanterns but left the batteries in them. The next time we checked them, they were ruined. The batteries leaked. So remember to take the batteries out when not in use. You want to be prepared for storms and would think the batteries should already be in place. We went along and didn't purchase new ones. We had a really bad storm a couple nights again and were pretty sure the power would go out. I kept thinking, we should have bought new lanterns. I saw an ad for the same brand we used in our Kmart store. I told my husband. He went to the store for the Saturday only sale. The store did not have the brand we wanted to replace our old lanterns. I truly believe these ads come out and many items are not even on the shelf. They don't have the item. I had been in the store yesterday and was told the item would be on the shelf today...not. I did look at some of the other lanterns on the shelf and remember that red one by Coleman. Anyway, my husband went to Kmart and found out that there was no lantern sale/item as we had seen in the flyer. But....the stockboy told him that the Coleman Family size lantern was on sale. It has a 13 watt fluorescent double U-tube.It operates up to 28 hours on low using 8 D batteries. This is a really nice lantern with a red base. It has a low and high switch. The top is also red. The lantern is a really nice size, about the same as our other lantern. My husband bought two. There were only two on the shelf. He brought them home and said " they didn't have them, but I got something else." I said "Did you get the Coleman? With a red base?" I couldn't believe it. He got the one I looked at yesterday. But it was expensive. He told me that it was only 2.00 for each. I was floored! Only 2.00 a piece.What a deal? I still think it was a mistake. Anyway, we have two new lanterns to light our way through those terrible power outages.
