Beware the Bargain Fitted Sheet
Share and Enjoy:
This is a 100% Egyptian cotton sheet that I got at half price, so I can’t complain, but it is the strangest fitted sheet I’ve ever seen.
As you can see from the picture of the tag, which is the only label associated with the product, it is 100% Egyptian cotton. The thread count is good... I would think around 180. The sheet is a lovely mossy green color (better than the picture shows) that goes well with our bedroom.
The problem is the way the sheet is constructed. This is a fitted bottom sheet, and it has elastic around all four sides. First of all this makes it difficult to figure out which way it goes on the bed. Not that it takes too long to figure out, but who wants to spend extra time on such a mundane task? Second, it is not cut to fit a standard mattress size very well. It does not fit smoothly, always having wrinkles and buckled spots.
Because of all those wrinkles, even with the high thread count, the dog got a toenail tangled in it, and thus the sheet had to be mended after we had owned it less than a month. So much for a nice smooth feel. One of us always gets the mended spot!
Maybe this is typical of a lot of fitted sheets now, but I’ve never seen one made this way. So just be aware that when you find some great-looking bargain bedding, you might be getting a mark-down product for a reason.
