A Skirt For My Bed

I've really been doing a lot of cleaning and redecorating at my house lately. One of the bedrooms has teal accents. The room has a new bed, so it was necessary to get some new bedding. I bought beautiful teal sheets, a light teal comforter, and a darker teal accent quilt. But I also needed a bedskirt. So I purchased a white queen-sized bedskirt at Walmart by Mainstays. It fits mattresses 60 inches by 81 inches, with a 14-inch drop. The color is Arctic White, and it is just a basic full skirt, without panels or decoration. (I almost forgot that I would need a bedskirt, after so carefully getting the other bedding items.)

It is machine washable, made of my favorite fabric--60% cotton and 40% polyester. It was just the touch needed to finish my Victorian-style teal bedroom. I have a beautiful teal hand painted floral tray that goes on the bed, and I've placed a teal teacup a rose teapot ,and white gloves on the tray. A teal sheer is draped across the wall at the head of the bed for a canopy effect, with a cottage picture in the middle.  Teal accessories and Victorian teal lampshades with fringe complete the look.

Just a quick tip about bedskirts. An easy way to make sure the bedskirt stays in place is to pin it to the box springs (along the edge here and there) with safety pins. That way when you place the mattress on top of the skirt and box springs, the bedskirt won't slip, as often happens. It will stay in place until you need to wash it.
