Gotta Have A Feather Pillow!

My husband says that the only reason I married him is because he had a feather pillow. I stole it, and up until a few months ago, slept peacefully every night on it. I carried it on board many a plane, and never left home without it. I was like Linus with his blanket.

But to tell you the truth, when I traced the history of this pillow, it was not too hygienic. My husband's mother made it from real chicken feathers when she was a little girl. (She is now 95.) Back then they didn't sanitize the feathers like they do now. To tell you the truth, I had visions of goblins and monsters, and Lord knows WHAT creatures crawling out at night to terrorize me. But I was so addicted to this pillow that I could not let it go. One time it was lost for a couple of days, and I didn't sleep at all for 2 nights.

But thinking about the long history of this pillow was really starting to bother me. I didn't think it could be too healthy, regardless of how many allergen covers I put on it. It was beginning to give me nightmares.

So, one brave day I spotted this European White Goose Down Pillow in Belk's, and even though it was $100.00, I figured it would be worth every penny. So I purchased it happily, and brought it home. Yes, it took me awhile to get used to it, but there was no turning back, as I tossed the germ ridden other one into the trash. This one is very fluffy. It is called a Standard/Queen, though I would definitely say it is more of a Queen. It is machine washable. Since it is Goose Down, I covered it with an allergy barrier cover, and I was good to go. Okay, I am not yet sleeping as well as I used to on my old faithful feather pillow, but I am adjusting, and I never thought I could. I even ordered another feather pillow online. So I think in time, I'll be fine, and I will surely be healthier.
