Amana 96% Variable Speed Gas Furnace

Share and Enjoy:

When our central air died earlier this summer we decided to replace not only the air but also install a new gas furnace since both units were over 35 years old.  Our old furnace was a monster downstairs and after doing a little research and having several heating companies come out, we decided to go with the Amana Model AMV9070, 70,000 btu, 96%, 2 stage, variable speed gas furnace.

The price I have listed includes a new Amana central air conditioning unit (separate review) which we were quoted as one price and saving us money.

Included in the price was installation and removal of our old furnace, an Aprilaire 500M humidifier and humidistat and also an Aprilaire 2 stage thermostat.

Some of the reasons why we chose this Amana furnace are:

**Recommendation of friends, talking with various heating and cooling representatives, on line reviews, and trusting the name Amana to give us the best features available and many years of the best performance for our heating and cooling needs.

** We were impressed with Amana's high-efficiency performance rating, the number one reason we wanted a new furnace.  I was tired of sky high utility bills and listening to the sounds of our old furnace.  We knew it was only giving us half of what newer furnaces had to offer and every furnace rep confirmed that!

**2 Stage, Varable Speed:  this will reduce the temperature swings that we were dealing with.  The furnace will start at a lower speed, increase and decrease as needed to keep the temperature constant in each room.   Our auto comfort model provides us with the best demumidification and energy efficiency each season of the year.

**Million-Air Heat Exchanger:  This is a patented stainless steel tubular heat exchanger built to last and so named because of over one million extreme temperature performance tests, quite impressive!!

**SureStart Ignition System:  So named because of a long-lasting and rugged Silicon Nitride igniter which will provide just the right amount of heat for safely starting up our furnace.  I was pleased to learn that it will compensate for changes in line voltage.  Was this important to me before?  To be honest, no, but somehow knowing this now makes me feel safer.

**Warranty:  Our warranty includes a lifetime on the heat exchanger, lifetime unit replacement and a 10 year labor warranty.

**Energy Efficiency - 96% AFUE:  We knew our old furnace was costing us way too much to run, especially in the summer when we had the central air and the pump running on our pool for a set amount of hours each day. I am happy to say that we just received out first new electric bill for the month of August (typically our highest bill) and our bill was CUT IN HALF!!

To sum it all up I have to say we are so impressed with how quiet this furnace is.  I absolutely cannot tell when it's running and there are no drapes or vertical blinds swaying back and forth!!   We've never had to adjust the temperature and we love coming home to a nice cool home and now look forward to winter.

We qualify for a $1500.00 tax credit next year with this purchase plus the best surprise was a combined cash rebate of $950.00 from our electric and gas company.  Can we say, WOOHOO!!!!!

  1. Wow, that sounds like it was well worth the investment! When it's time to replace our system, which might be awhile as it was only installed in 2000 ;) I'd definitely consider one like this. Congratulations on finding a very effective way to really slice those energy bills!
