Olympus FE-46 12MP Digital Camera

I have several small digital cameras which I really like, but when I saw this Olympus 12MP Digital Camera featured on HSN, I thought I would give it a try because it has features my other small digitals don't have.

I own a professional Olympus SLR camera that I use for business.  I don't want to use my professional camera for normal fun shooting of everyday things.  This camera is good for that purpose.  It is 12 megapixels, has a 5x optical zoom, 2.7" LCD monitor, and image stabilization.

The pros of this camera:  twenty shooting modes, including portrait, self portrait, night scenes, fireworks, candles, indoor, cuisine and pet.  It also has a macro feature that allows you to really zoom in.  Plus, it has a magic filter setup that allows you to take photos with special effects.  It also takes video.  Another nice feature, a three year warranty.

The cons:  tiny memory card that is very hard to handle.  It is really tiny in size, even for me, and I have small hands.  You must put this card into an attachment to install it into the camera.  The camera works on two AA batteries, but you can switch the camera to NIMH battery, which is a nice feature.  The instruction manual is on CD, no hard copy.  Plus you do have to fool around with the camera and its features to get the best possible picture.  It isn't as user friendly as it could be.

All in all, I still like the camera and will most likely keep it.  For being 12MP, the pictures don't look any better than my 10MP digital cameras, but I have tried the camera out, like a lot of the features, and the photos are good enough for the everyday usage I intend to give it.  This is definitely a camera you would have to try for yourself to see if you like it.  Also, this camera came with a set of Crayola crayons, and there is a way you can print a black and white outline of photos so that the kids can color them in.  I'm not interested in this myself because I don't have any kids, but for those that do, this is a nice feature.  The camera also comes with a USB cable to allow you to download your photos onto your computer, a small carrying case, a wrist strap, an AV cable, two AA batteries, and the attachment for the memory card.
