Fancy a close shave?

Right, here is a review, made up of my own opinions on shaving, using a shaving stick.  Before you all groan, and start thinking this review is thirty years out of date, just bear with me.

To start with, a solid stick of shaving soap, is a very good way of producing a lather. The stick is small, compact enough for a toilet bag, easy to use, produces better lather than foams, and is far greener than aerosols. The soap itself varies from one Company to another, so you have the choice of very expensive designer names, or the lower end of the market, cheap stuff. You can opt for a sensitive soap, or a fragrant variety. You can apply with the fingers, but personally I prefer to use a good bristle brush, especially if you want a really close shave.

These shaving soaps are still available almost everywhere, from the supermarkets to the little corner shop, and from Chemists to Motorway Service Areas. The prices are on average, far less than cans of foam. They lather far more than bar soap, and although this is possible to use for a shave, you would actually be better off going for conditioner if no shaving soap is to hand. Actually this makes a decent alternative. I always have a small "Hotel freebie" bottle in my toilet bag, and have used this on many occadions with great success, second only to a shaving stick in my opinion.

A stick leaves the skin moisturised, fresh, and clean, it is also kind to the skin, especially if you are shaving "sensitive areas", We are talking about bits lower than the face here. Just remember that if doing say, a Landing Strip, use plenty of soap, and brush the hairs outwards. Anyway, back to the sticks themselves, I do recommend them, for all the reasons already stated.

I have used aerosols, shaving gels, foams, and even oils, but to be quite honest, none are as good as the old shaving stick, please try one, you will be surprised.
