Mom, Mummy, Mother...

I bought this mainboard at March 2008. This is my latest mainboard after MSI K8. I use it until now. I bought this mainboard because I heard rumor said that if you use AMD platform, then ABIT is always be the "partner" in order to gain high performance and stability. I choose this AX78 first of all because I like "big" mainboard (full ATX) and it support Windows Vista Operating System. "Small" mainboard (micro ATX) usually have limited performance eventhough you put fast processor into the device. The second reason is because this "mother" have adopted AMD 770/SB600 Chipset and Hypertransport 3.0. At any computer device, chipset holds a very important rule in performance and stability. The third reason is that this mainboard use four memory slot DDR2 1066, which means that you can upgrade the memory up to 8GB. Very fantastic! (DDR2 1066 can only run with AM2+ Processor like AMD Phenom). The more memory you use, the faster your computer will "run". Imagine if you want to fill a big tank with water (big tank here means a program that you decide to run, and water means the data itself). You choose one single person to do that, or four person at the same time. Which one will fill the tank faster? (one single person means one piece of 2GB RAM, and four person means four piece of 2GB RAM since 4x2=8). The fourth reason is that this maiboard have external CMOS (BIOS data) clearing switch at the back side, which means if you get stuck because you already overclock you computer and the computer do not want to startup because of wrong setting, you can use this switch without have to enter BIOS. The fifth reason is because this device have adopted abit Silent OTES Technology (Silent OTES is the latest technology from ABIT that use "pipe' as the passive cooling system at the north bridge chipset connected to the south brige chipset in order to keep the heat low, even in overclocking. The sixth reason is that this device use PCI Express 2.0 and Cross FireX ready(new featureto boost graphic performance in gaming). The other reasons because this device have 7.1 Channel HD Audio, SATA 3Gb/s, and 10 USB ports. I use this mainboard with AMD Phenom X4 9850 quad core processor (in my next review), Sapphire HD3870XT 512MB (in my early review), Kingston DDR2 PC6400 2x2GB, Creative sound blaster VX, and Seagate hard drive 320GB SATA II. By using this combination, I can play all "heavy" game until now. I can run dual operating system (Windows XP service pack 3 and Windows Vista Ultimate service pack 2) with no problem. This mainboard also not expensive. It only cost $110. So, I suggest this mainboard for those who wants to play fantastic games at low cost. However, I never overclock this device because I do not want it getting too hot and I am not recommmend anybody to overclock this mainboard. Many thanks to ABIT for produce this AX78 as my "mother". I love you "mom"
